The Chrysanthemum Parlour
Sakura Smoke was recorded among the garments kept in the Chrysanthemum Parlour, where clothing and personal effects were often retained long after the occasions for which they had been worn.
The set is constructed from a lightweight kimono silk similar to that of another set recovered from the same wardrobe and now catalogued separately as Vessel of Memory. Both garments share a similar cut, construction, and arrangement of matching trousers, though their fabrics and decorative details are distinct.
The proximity of the two sets suggests that they may once have belonged to the same household, or may have been kept together for another reason. No surviving record establishes this. Neither garment bears a household mark or identifiable owner's name.
Sakura Smoke appears to have been preserved in good condition, with the original silk bow retained. The name is a later archival designation.
